Just did an SVN up of SS and the event calendar module of a previously working site. Adding or editing a calendar entry does not pop up the date picker and, for reasons that escape me, the start date and end date fields are readonly so I'm stuck. No js errors in firebug. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

So the date picker is failing inside the popup window of DataObjectManager? Can you right click and view the frame in a new tab? Check for JS errors?

Yes. No JS errors. Not sure the event is getting registered. but the clear click DOES work...

BTW...

Firefox on a MAC with firebug, but also tested on a PC with IE. Same result.

Any chance I could have a peek at the admin?
