It can take anywhere from 10 - 30 seconds to do an initial page load. After that it has cached the pages and still takes over 4 seconds to process each page load.

The delay all appears to be with the ‘Latency’ or ‘Waiting TTFB (Time To First Byte)’ - not once the page actually starts to load (it’s very fast then).

The actual website pages are light. As a comparison test I uploaded a flat version of the same website (not linked to a database, no CMS) to the same server and it’s really fast.

So is this something to do with processing the Web.config or the initial connection to the database... or something? I assume its server related as several sites on the same hosting picked it up at the same time. It uses PHP 5.2.9 so sadly we can't upgrade as all other versions use 5.3

Anyway - When you click save an publish, the 'saving..' message appears but it doesn't go any further. A look at the console reveals a reponse is being received, and if you refresh the page the changes can be seen.

Likewise, when adding a new page, it doesn't appear on the sitetree until you do a page refresh. There's no errors in javascript or PHP, so I'm struggling to know how to debug.

Posted to: SS 2.4 Javascript not working in backend | Show Thread | Post Reply
Thu, 28 Apr 2016 23:12:00 +1200 https://www.silverstripe.org/community/forums/hosting-requirements/show/111919 Re: ReflectionClass errors when using SS 2.4.7 on PHP5.4.2 https://www.silverstripe.org/community/forums/hosting-requirements/show/19949?start=16#post413131
Thank you! I built new website I'm really excited about this software. First problems appear when I wanted move finished website on VPS server which is running on nginx environment first problem after migration on back end its displaying bad gateway. Second problem url on home page are generated with index.php in the middle on rest pages they are generate url friendly. I've heard nginx+plesk is a pain with configuration but I have no option to change hosting. I tried setup apache but no luck I'm not great with linux. I followed those tutorials: https://www.howtoforge.com/running-silverstripe-on-nginx-lemp-on-debian-wheezy-ubuntu-13.04
https://docs.silverstripe.org/en/3.2/getting_started/installation/how_to/configure_nginx/ <-- this official documentation is a joke sorry.

Thanks.

Posted to: Plesk + Nginx configuration | Show Thread | Post Reply
Fri, 18 Sep 2015 04:25:29 +1200 https://www.silverstripe.org/community/forums/hosting-requirements/show/105459 Silverstripe on nginx and hhvm https://www.silverstripe.org/community/forums/hosting-requirements/show/104761
Hi there, I normally run my SS3.1 Apps on Apache + mod_php setups, including lots of extra modules (php5-tidy, php5-curl, php5-geoip, php5-gd, php5-xcache, php5-memcached, php5-mcrypt). Most of these modules are necessary for the developments I did.

Since I haven't any experience with hhvm yet, my big question is, will hhvm be compatible with these modules, does it bring it's own implementations, how in general do I have to use it? Does HHVM just replace the general PHP interpreter and make usage of all the php5-* modules I install?

Hopefully someone can tell me a bit more about this.

kind regards

andre

Posted to: Silverstripe on nginx and hhvm | Show Thread | Post Reply
Tue, 18 Aug 2015 17:54:01 +1200 https://www.silverstripe.org/community/forums/hosting-requirements/show/104761 My Experience With ASPHostPortal as SilverStripe Hosting Provider https://www.silverstripe.org/community/forums/hosting-requirements/show/104095
I am a SilverStripe web developer. As a web developer, I've had a lot of experience regarding web hosting provider. Several times I moved from one hosting to another hosting. I've tried a lot of hosting providers that are cheap to expensive. Surely web hosting at a low price is not reliable. But it turns out expensive price also does not determine quality.
This past year I found a lot of blog hosting reviews on google. I had tried several hosting providers they recommend. And finally my choice fell on asphostportal. One thing I like about their service support team is reliable and friendly. Their support team can answer all technical questions me in a short time. And also their uptime is super, because for half a year I never website down. Unlike previous hosting provider each month down even more.
I highly recommend their services for your SilverStripe web. After more than tens of hosting that I use, they are the best.

Posted to: My Experience With ASPHostPortal as SilverStripe Hosting Provider | Show Thread | Post Reply
Tue, 04 Aug 2015 21:26:58 +1200 https://www.silverstripe.org/community/forums/hosting-requirements/show/104095 Re: Hosting for existing wesbite https://www.silverstripe.org/community/forums/hosting-requirements/show/101600#post401682
Digital Ocean are good.

Posted to: Hosting for existing wesbite | Show Thread | Post Reply
Sun, 24 May 2015 00:06:42 +1200 https://www.silverstripe.org/community/forums/hosting-requirements/show/101600#post401682
