well, yes. But I see it the other way round. I want to keep all temp data in one place so I can easily clean up everything in one go. Otherwise I have to go through all my dev sites and clean them up one by one...
Edit: ah yeah, I don't think it has to do with how the temp directory is setup. If used without cache key the cache file gets written without issues.
