hi

I've run into a problem with trying to understand the behaviour of the NewsLetter module.

1) The link for 0.3 appears to be incorrect, it points to http://www.silverstripe.org/newsletter-module/ and downloads version 0.4 which is not compatible with Silverstripe 2.3 that I am using. I checked out from subversion instead
2) The creation of newsletters and newsletter types appears to be working as I would expect.

Where I am running into problems are the following:

i) I click on the newsletter tab, create a news letter type and a draft news letter. I click on mailing list, set valid details and hit Add (this is to add a single user). A rather unhelpful 'The page at YOURSITE Says' and then nothing

ii) I tried adding users using the SubscriptionPage - I see a page rendered with various fields and tick boxes for the newsletter types that I have created. However when I click submit and then go back to the newsletter tab in the admin panel (after a hard refresh also) I still cannot see users appearing in the mailing lists in question.

Am I missing something in my understanding or is this module broken?

Cheers

Gordon

hi

Walking around the block for lunch appears to have helped :) After a bit of googling I came across this, http://userhelp.silverstripe.com/creating-a-mailing-list/ , which shows how to set up a mailing list which is required for the newsletter mailing lists to work.

The problems appear to be related to ungraceful / silent erroring when a mailing list is not present

Thanks

Gordon
