Has anyone encountered a simple way to track the updating of modules so you know when to upgrade?
Given the high number of pre-1.0 modules out there, it would be handy to know when rc and 1.0 releases come out.

For the SilverStripe supported modules they will be announced on http://groups.google.com/group/silverstripe-announce
Other modules will be notified on the forum. The entire modules section on this site I would like to see an overhaul, it's hard to find anything unless you know about it. When that gets redeveloped an rss feed of new releases might be cool!
Thanks for the info
Unfortunately I tried there and not all updates to official modules are posted there.
For example, can't find a single post on Subsites.
Definitely an area that could use an update.
That is one thing the Drupal *shudder* team does well, integrated information about module updates. Of course, they don't do much else well ;)
Update information is just so valuable.
Had to switch to trunk for Subsites because of a inhibiting bug in 0.2. Will have to keep manually checking to see when it gets a new tag.

Probably because it hasn't been updated for a while. Last work on the module was 3 months ago (http://open.silverstripe.org/browser/modules/subsites). Doesn't appear to be any milestone goal for development either (http://open.silverstripe.org/roadmap). I assume because the current maintainers are super busy!
Thanks for all the info
