I have checked the forum and see that a lot of other people are having this problem but none of the solutions are working for me. I have installed the blog, works fine from admin and am able to add entries but nothing is showing on the blog page:

I dont know if this makes a difference but the blog/_config.php file is empty. Dont know if this has anything to do with it? Any suggestions are apprecciated, am pulling my hair out here!

I was having similar problems, the blog installed fine and I could use it in the CMS. This simple solution worked for me.
Insert the below code into the page template that is being used. My example template is: themes/<theme>/templates/Page.ss
//INSERT just like $Content or $Forms
$Layout
