TreeDropdownField "Too many pages."

So I have a TreeDropdownField that seems to display "Too many pages" when a page under a specific holder page is searched - it seems to be happening arbitrarily. The specific holder has about 300 pages under it, could the number of pages be the reason? Is there a way around this?

Edit: Calculation error.
