Is there some way I can get into the CMS for my site without adding "admin" to get to login page. Is there another method as persons can just come and append "admin" to the site name and try to get in.

No matter what you call it people will always try and 'get in' to your CMS. This is why you should use a high strength password. Also note that people do not login to admin/ - they login to Security/login which then redirects the user to /admin/ so to hide the login form you would need to rename all the security classes.
