Are GridFields able to nest descendent objects

Is is possible to nest content within a GridField like so:

- First parent object
- Second parent object
    - First descendent object 
    - Second descendent object 
        - First descendent object of already nested object

If so I'd love a link to any documentation or modules doing this.

Sorry, this may be simple but I haven't been able to find an answer searching for this yet.

Ok ok, I know GridField is a table based system so it seems like an odd request. Perhaps there is something similar but it seems like it should be a common operation?
