Hi all,

Yesterday we noticed the existence of SilverStripe, and looks a very promising CMS for our projects.

For the moment, We would like to make a test site to try the features of SS, but I'm having little problems to find the best place to learn to customize an SS site. I looked in themes section in the site, but I don't find any "complex" theme to see on it. For example, a typical site with a banner block, sidebar, and so on.

For the moment, I'm reading "Building theme from static template"[1], but when I copy the theme to "themes" folder, and change it in SS Admin, I only see the blue page attached (this happened to me with all themes I tried)

For this first site, the HTML page will be make it with Artisteer (for speed to test).

Some help is appreciated.

Hi Giu,

try to visit http://{siteurl}?flush=1. This will flush the cache.
This will probably solve the issue with the blue screen. Use the same url when you changed template files. If you don't, you won't see the changes you made in some cases.

The best way to learn SS is by reading and following the instructions on the tuts. See http://doc.silverstripe.org/sapphire/en/tutorials
For me the tuts where a perfect start.

Enjoy!!

Hello Giu,

Starting from 4.0, Artisteer supports Export Plug-ins it's possible now creating a plugin (free or commercial ) for Silverstripe.

More details you can find here: http://www.artisteer.com/?p=dev

Thanks,

Hi Bob,

I've almost marked you as spam and removed you - as it looks like link building - can you explain how or why your link is useful please - explain in context of silverstripe how/why/what your solution is?

I would be interested in seeing a Artisteer plug in for SS.
It would be a nice fast development path for many simple sites..
